We've partnered with EcoSun Wash — a local solar panel inspection and cleaning company — to offer our clients something we should have offered sooner: a free, no-obligation roof inspection to check in on your system.
No sales pressure. No unnecessary work. Just an honest look at what's happening up on your roof.
*Sustainable You receives no compensation from EcoSun Wash for referrals. This offer exists because we believe it's the right thing to do for our clients.

We recently did a deep dive into year-over-year production data across our client portfolio. What we found was that several systems — particularly those on flat or near-flat roofs in Washington D.C. — showed a meaningful decrease in production that coincides with panels accumulating dirt and grime over time.
It turns out that in cities, rain itself can carry particulate matter that deposits on panels and builds up over months and years. On tilted systems, rainfall helps wash this off. On flat or low-slope roofs, it doesn't — and the buildup stays.
We are currently getting several of these systems cleaned and tracking the data carefully. We will be sharing what we find. But what we already know is this: for flat urban rooftops in D.C., an annual check-in is worth doing.
Not because your system is broken. Because you made a significant investment that's supposed to work for 25 years — and we want to make sure it does..
Two years in, EcoSun Wash has built their reputation entirely through word of mouth and the quality of their work
Yurii's team goes up, takes a proper look, and tells you what they actually find. If your panels don't need cleaning, they'll tell you that. No upsell, no unnecessary work.
With a goal of 200–300 projects this year, EcoSun Wash is bringing their Maryland track record to D.C. homeowners — and our clients get first access.
The whole visit typically takes under an hour. You'll come away with a clear picture of where your system stands. When Yurii's team comes out, here's what they look at:
A close-up physical inspection of every panel — checking for soiling level, visible buildup, bird droppings, discoloration, micro-cracks, or any signs of physical damage that could be affecting output. Things you simply can't see from the ground.
Yurii's team checks for any new tree growth, overgrown branches, or nearby obstructions that may be casting shade on your array. If trimming would meaningfully improve your production, they'll tell you — and can coordinate the work.
A general assessment of the surface area around your array, including a check for any loose wiring, exposed conduit, or connection points that may have shifted over time. Small issues caught here can prevent bigger problems down the road.
If you have access to your monitoring portal, Yurii can pull up your data on-site and review it alongside the physical assessment — looking for patterns or dips that the numbers alone don't explain.
Animals nesting under panels is more common than most homeowners realize — and it causes real damage. Yurii's team checks for signs of activity and can install protective guards to keep your system secure.
A professional clean using the right equipment and technique for your panel type and roof setup. Only recommended if the inspection shows it will make a measurable difference to your output.
Whatever they find, you'll get a straight answer. If nothing needs doing, they'll tell you that too. The goal isn't to sell a service — it's to make sure your system is running at its best.

Fill out the form below with your address and a couple of preferred times. We'll take it from there.

EcoSun Wash will schedule a convenient time that works best for you, come out to your property as planned, and conduct a thorough inspection as specified above.

After the inspection, you'll receive a clear report. If cleaning is recommended, you'll get an exclusive rate. If nothing needs to be done, you'll know that .
Yurii from EcoSun Wash comes out, goes up on the roof, assesses your panel condition, and checks in on your overall system performance. No charge, no obligation.
If cleaning is recommended after the inspection, our clients receive a preferred rate. We will only recommend cleaning if we believe the increase in energy production — through bill savings and additional SREC credits — will pay back the cost within one year.
Think of this as a group discount. Sustainable You receives no compensation for this referral. This is entirely about continuing to provide value to our clients.
If you have a roof in D.C. and have had solar installed for at least a year or two, it probably is. If you've never had your panels physically inspected since installation, it definitely is. If you're already on top of your monitoring and everything looks great — the inspection will confirm that, and you can move on with peace of mind.
Either way, you'll know for sure.
We are currently cleaning and monitoring several systems across our D.C. portfolio and will be publishing before-and-after production data as we receive it. Check back soon — or book your inspection now and see the results for yourself.
A few questions we hear a lot:
Not necessarily — and we won't pretend otherwise. We recently reviewed production data across our client portfolio and identified specific systems where the numbers suggest cleaning would make a meaningful difference. If your year-one production is more than 10–15% higher than your most recent annual production, and you have a flat or near-flat roof in D.C., you're a strong candidate. The free inspection will tell you for sure.
That's the standard we hold ourselves to. We won't recommend a cleaning unless we believe the resulting increase in production — through both energy bill savings and additional SREC credits — will cover the cost within one year. If the math doesn't work, we'll tell you.
None. The inspection is free and comes with no pressure to purchase anything. If cleaning isn't needed, EcoSun Wash will tell you so.
Flat roofs are more susceptible to particulate buildup than tilted installations because they don't benefit from natural rain runoff. If you have a flat or near-flat roof in an urban area and your panels have never been inspected, an annual check-in is a sensible precaution.
Monitoring is a great sign — but it doesn't always tell the full picture. Gradual soiling causes gradual efficiency loss, which can be hard to detect without a year-over-year baseline comparison. A physical inspection confirms what the data can't always show. If you pull your all-time production report and notice more than a 10–15% decline from year one to your most recent year, that's worth investigating.
No. Sustainable You receives no compensation from EcoSun Wash. We partnered with them because we believe their work is in our clients' best interest — and because the honest answer to the cleaning question is more nuanced than we initially communicated.
